Are your dresses ethically made?
Yes. Every Surya dress is designed in Australia and made in Nepal by long-term partners we know and work with directly. We use natural fibres and low-impact dyes, which are gentler on your skin and the planet.
What’s the difference between organic cotton and loomed cotton?
Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers. It’s soft and smooth, with a silky drape, as in the Noumea, Priya, Wild Rose and our Kaftan. Loomed cotton is woven on a loom, which gives it a light texture and lets it breathe well in the heat, as in the Calliope, Aurora and Tibetan Wrap Dress.
Which length should I choose?
Maxi dresses are full length: cool, covered and easy to dress up or down. Midi dresses fall between the knee and the ankle, and are an easy everyday length that pairs well with sandals or boots.
What’s the difference between a dress and a pinafore?
A pinafore is a sleeveless dress with a bib front and shoulder straps, designed to be worn over a top. That makes it perfect for layering year-round. See all our pinafore dresses.
What sizes do your dresses come in?
Our dresses range from XS to XXL, depending on the style. Check each product for its sizes, and see our size charts for measurements.
How do I care for my cotton dress?
Wash cold with similar or darker colours, and line dry out of direct sun. Because we use low-impact dyes, a little colour can bleed in the first few washes. That’s normal, and it won't fade your piece.

We give you the block colour blank canvas and you decide ... if it's an everyday dress, a going-out dress, a work dress, a quirky dress, a dress-you-don't-see-everywhere-dress, or just your old faded comfy friend that you live in at home ... that's OK!
