Your Organic Cotton Guide
What does GOTS certified mean?
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the leading international standard for organic textiles. It checks that the cotton is organically grown, and that the processing behind the fabric meets environmental and social criteria.
Where does your organic cotton come from?
Nepal doesn’t grow cotton (organic or otherwise), so our certified organic fabric comes from India where it's also coloured using low impact dyes. It’s then transported over the border, and stitched in Kathmandu by our long-term partners.
Is organic cotton gentle on skin?
Yes. Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides, and we colour every piece with low-impact dyes, which are gentler than conventional chemical-rich dyes. It’s a soft, breathable choice for everyday wear and underwear.
Organic cotton or loomed cotton: which should I choose?
Organic cotton is soft and smooth, with a fluid drape, as in the Freedom Pants and Priya Dress. Loomed cotton is woven locally in Nepal and has a textured, slightly structured feel. Both are natural, breathable and dyed with low-impact dyes.
How do I care for organic cotton?
Machine wash cold, with like colours at first, since low-impact dyes release a little colour in early washes. Always dry in the shade and avoid hot water.
