That depends. Please contact us by email immediately if you need to change your order. Please use your order number as the subject reference. Once you order is shipped however, we cannot change or alter any order.

Promo or loyalty discount codes need to be entered on the shipment page when checking out (not the first page). Our website is only able to accept one discount code per order. If the code is not work or you require assistance, please do not hesitate contact us on because we're here to help.

We process all orders between 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday. Your order will be dispatched within 48 hours of payment being received. Your shipping charges will be calculated at time of checkout and will be viewed by you prior to payment. All orders are provided a tracking number.

All items are sent via Australia Post with tracking ID number. Express Post options are available at checkout.

Yes we do. Please check out as usual and the shipping cost will be displayed prior to payment.

Once your order is dispatched you will receive shipping confirmation, along with tracking details for your order.

You can then log into your Australia Post account and track your item through their website.

Customers are responsible for paying any customs or import duties (including VAT) imposed by your country of residence (ex. Australia). Surya is legally required to declare the commercial value and include an invoice with all internationally order. Customs fees will vary between countries therefore we recommend contacting your local customers office for further information.

Returns and exchanges

We are happy to offer refunds, exchanges or store credits on full priced items under the following conditions: 

1. Your return is initiated within 14 days of you receiving your item.

2. Your return is posted to us within 5 days of return being approved. Items must be returned in original condition (unworn, unwashed, undamaged, free from any smells or make-up marks).

3. Shipping cost to return items is payable by the customer.

Unless an item is faulty or an incorrect item was sent, customers will be responsible for the shipping cost to return an item. However, if you purchased using PayPal you may be able to claim back the cost of your returns postage. You must activate this feature on your PayPal account BEFORE you order.

Please email us on as soon as possible, quoting your order number, so that we can fix this for you. For faulty items, please also include a photo of the fault.

Garment Info

All our pieces are crafted using low impact dyes - this is wonderful for our planet, however does mean a little extra care is required.

WASH: Separately for the first 1 - 2 times. You will see a little colour in these earlier washes, so take care to avoid washing with lighter pieces. No need to add salt - all our pieces have been pre-washed, however the mordants in low impact dyes are not as chemically rich as regular dyes.

DRY: In the shade always. Our low impact dyes will fade much faster if left in the sun.

DO NOT: Wash in hot water - this will ensure the colour bleeds much more than it should, and your piece will fade faster.

As our dyes are low impact and do not contain harsh chemical mordants, your piece will bleed a little colour at the beginning. This is normal and shouldn't fade your item. Do not wash your item in warm or hot water as this will allow more dye to run. Please contact us if you have an inquiry about your garment dye on

All our pieces including our clothing are produced in Nepal. We have been working closely with our people in Nepal since 2008, and have a wonderful relationship with them all and their families. We have tons of information on our blog > on all aspects of our production, and have produced a short film showing our clothing being made from start to finish.

We use cotton fabric in 90% of our clothing. All our cotton is woven in country in Nepal, providing loads of local employment. It is then dyed, and transported to our production house which is around 30 kms away from where it was woven, thereby reducing transportation miles.

We choose to dye in full black colours only (rather than printing), as full colour uses far less water and does not produce anywhere near as much grey water run off as printed fabrics do. Read more on our low impact dyes >

We get asked this question a LOT so we need to address it here for you all.

While we LOVE and use raw 100% hemp in our accessories and homewares range, hemp as a clothing fabric is not as ideal as we would like it to be.

Hemp is not just 'hemp' when it comes to fabric for clothing. For example, if you stitch together a top or skirt or pants (or whatever it is) from 100% woven hemp fibre, it will be far too itchy and scratchy for anyone to wear comfortably. (We know, we've tried many times over)

You need to add another softer fibre into the mix for people to be able to wear it, and 99% of the time it is cotton.

Most brands who sell 'hemp' clothing are selling clothing made from a hemp and cotton mix. Reputable brands will tell you this on the label and on their website. The brands that do not mention this either do not know, or are telling you what you want to hear #greenwashing

It is law in Australia to have all components of the fabric listed on clothing labels. The interesting thing however is that it is the seller who is responsible for stating this, and as customs never physically check the labels are correct, brands can state whatever they please, and it is never questioned by authorities.

Sometimes the 'hemp' fabric has up to 70% cotton with only 30% hemp.

We are on an eternal quest to find the perfect hemp fabric; at least 70:30 hemp : cotton, and woven in Nepal (not China). We have had limited success so far, but not on a large scale. Stay tuned though, and shoot us an email if you know more on

We use minimal wrapping paper to secure your order, and recycled bubble wrap when needed. We always have a stock pile of used bubble wrap, as our jewellery orders are shipped from Nepal in bubble wrap - we send it on down the line to you, and encourage you to keep it and use it when needed.
